Compare

Alarms wait for a break-in. Kore watches the whole home.

An honest design comparison: the incumbents ship hardware today, and Kore is pre-prototype, building in the open.

Why Kore · Against the competition

Alarms wait for a break-in. Kore watches the whole home.

Line them up feature by feature and the difference is the job each system was designed for. The alarm industry is built around intruders. Kore is designed around the whole home, and around the person living in it. These are concept designs, not finished hardware, and Kore is pre-prototype, building in the open.

✓ built in · ◐ partial, add-on, or planned · not offered. The Kore column describes the planned design, not shipped hardware. Competitor column reflects the current consumer lineups of Ring, Google Nest, SimpliSafe, and ADT as of October 2026.

An honest note: those companies ship hardware today, and Kore is pre-prototype. This is a design comparison, not a shipping one. Kore's edge is the job it chooses: the room as the interface, the person as the point, and safety as the product.

Head-on answers

Ring, Nest, SimpliSafe, ADT: the honest version.

The question every visitor asks, answered without spin.

How does Kore compare to Ring, Nest, SimpliSafe, and ADT?

Honestly: they ship hardware today and Kore does not. Ring, Nest, SimpliSafe, and ADT sell proven alarm systems with professional monitoring plans. Kore is pre-prototype and crowdfunding its V0.1 build. The table above compares design direction against shipping products, not product against product.

Then what is Kore's edge?

The room as the interface and the person as the point. Kore is being designed as one system that senses air, water, fire, falls, break-ins, and presence together, keeps a continuous documented record of what was sensed and what worked, and runs locally first. The incumbents are alarm companies. Kore is being designed as an ambient safety system.

Why should I trust a company that has not shipped?

You should not, yet. Follow the build log, watch the evidence accumulate, and only back the campaign if you want to fund the prototype. No ship dates are promised until V0.1 is built and tested.

Do I need to replace my Ring or Nest system?

No. Kore is not shipping, so there is nothing to switch to. The V0.1 prototype targets environmental and presence sensing. Camera and alarm integration is a roadmap question, not a launch feature.
